NEWPORT—Races are now set for the May 6 primaries in Cocke County. Candidates had until noon Thursday to qualify for the election.According to the Cocke County Election Commission, qualifying for the office of Circuit Court Judges are Ben W. Hooper II for Part 1, Richard R. "Dick" Vance and Scott Justice for Part II, Rex Henry Ogle for Part III and Duane Sloane for Part IV.Incumbent Telford E. Forgety Jr. is unopposed for Chancellor of the 4th District, while incumbent James Bruce “Jimmy” Dunn has no opposition for Fourth District Attorney General.The lone candidate seeking the Public Defender post is Edward C. Miller.The County Mayor’s race currently features incumbent Vaughn Moore, Crystal Ottinger, Charles Lewis Moore and Paul L. Cogburn.Current officeholder Rob Mathis is the only primary candidate for County Trustee.Brad Davidson is challenging incumbent John A.
