Stormy Weather Thunderstorms hit county, more expected tonight

NEWPORT-After multiple storms of the winter variety, Cocke County got its first thunderstorm of the year on Wednesday and another round of storms is predicted tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown.Wednesday morning's storm not only brought lightning and thunder, but also strong winds and heavy rains to some areas.Although damages were reportedly minimal, a few trees were blown over and heavy rains caused minor flooding of some small streams in the Parrottsville area.For more details, please see the Thursday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
