DANDRIDGE—After being a thorn in the
side of Morristown West coach Derek Creech for the past three seasons, Dylan Dockery did it one
Dockery scored 35 points in leading Cocke County past Morristown West by a 68-59
score in Tuesday night’s consolation game. The CCHS senior forward, who has verbally committed to
play football for ETSU, had 22 points in the opening half and continued to pour it on in the second
Cocke County, behind Dockery’s play, led 35-29 at the half and grew their lead to as
many as 14 in the second half.
Morristown West (14-14) however did not go away, as they had
two looks to tie the game in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
Cocke County (18-12),
however recovered and hit crucial free-throws down the stretch to preserve the
Dobyns-Bennett hosts Morristown West, while Tennessee High hosts the Fighting Cocks in
Saturday night’s Region 1-AAA quarterfinal games.
