On Saturday, Feb. 8, veterans from multiple generations were honored at the annual Valentines for Veterans celebration. The event took place at the Newport Community Center and was organized by Marjorie Ramsey, Chair of the Cocke County Democratic Party.

Newport Police Chief Maurice Shults led the ceremony in a prayer. Ramsey began by thanking service members for their sacrifice. Miss Greater Greeneville and Newport native Sarah Stokely provided entertainment by singing the National Anthem.
