Stephen Burd, regional loss prevention manager at CVS, contacted Newport Police Department on Thursday concerning an apparent theft.

Jonathan Morrow, Knoxville, a pharmacist at the Newport CVS, admitted in a written statement to taking schedule III controlled substances (hydrocodone and tussin) on at least five separate occasions.

Morrow, 29, estimates that he had stolen 35 to 45ml of controlled substances between the dates of Jan. 10, 2014 and Feb. 6, 2014. According to Patrolman Travis Gorrell, store surveillance cameras captured Morrow stealing some substances.

Morrow was arrested for committing a theft under $500.
