BYBEE—A paving company allegedly tried to scam thousands of dollars from a 72-year-old woman on Waxwing Road, in Bybee, and threatened her with physical harm when she didn’t comply, the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department reported on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Timothy Bryant contacted the CCSD on Feb. 3 to say his mother, Faye Lawson, had been the victim of a scam by a paving company, Deputy Sheriff Jerry Vandergriff reported.

The owner of the company, who was named, allegedly came to Lawson’s residence and offered to repair her driveway, using materials left over from a previous job they had in the area, at a cost between $200 and $300, the report stated.
