BYBEE—A paving company allegedly tried to scam thousands of dollars from a
72-year-old woman on Waxwing Road, in Bybee, and threatened her with physical
harm when she didn’t comply, the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department reported on
Tuesday, Feb. 4.
contacted the CCSD on Feb. 3 to say his mother, Faye Lawson, had been the
victim of a scam by a paving company, Deputy Sheriff Jerry Vandergriff
The owner of
the company, who was named, allegedly came to Lawson’s residence and offered to
repair her driveway, using materials left over from a previous job they had in
the area, at a cost between $200 and $300, the report stated.
