Newport may be getting one of the few compressed natural gas
(CNG) fueling stations to be built this year in the region, according to
Jefferson Cocke County Utility District.
During their January meeting on Thursday, utility
commissioners learned of the project because Jefferson Cocke County Utility
District (JCCUD) is in the position to supply the natural gas.
The Plain Talk heard a report that the proposed CNG station
would be built at the Time Out Travel Center off Knoxville Highway near I-40 at
a cost of at least $750,000.
