NEWPORT-David Allen Reed Jr., 17, of Dawn Valley Road, in Parrottsville was listed in “critical” condition following a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Old Parrottsville Highway, on Friday, Jan. 31, according to a report by K9 Sgt. Chris Gregg of the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department.

Reed was flown by helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Sgt. Gregg said, when he arrived on the scene of the accident at 8:20 p.m., he found Jennifer Lynn Johnson, 41, of Wilder Street, in Morristown, lying on the ground beside her vehicle, the report stated.

Johnson allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol about her and admitted drinking alcohol and taking Oxycodone, for which she had a prescription.
