NEWPORT-Three residences in Newport were entered with search
warrants simultaneously by officers with the Cocke County Sheriff's Office, resulting in two
arrests, on Thursday, Jan. 30, according to a CCSO press release.An
undercover investigation by the
CCSO resulted in the purchase of crack cocaine from a suspect at a residence on Filbert Street,
another suspect on Mineral Street, and unknown persons at a residence on Lookout Drive, all located
in Newport, according to the press release. The investigation revealed that the three separate
locations were being used by two suspects, Shawn Russell Phillips and Terranie Ray, who allegedly
conspired together to sell and deliver crack cocaine. As a result of a search by officers on Lookout
Drive, approximately eight grams of a white rock substance believed to be crack cocaine and .3 grams
of suspected marijuana were discovered hidden in the children's toy box in the children's rooms. The
Department of Children's Services will be notified, CCSO Sheriff Armando Fontes stated. For
