NEWPORT-Faulty brakes on a vehicle are blamed for causing
it to strike a 75-year-old woman walking outside Knowles Market, on Thursday, Jan. 23, the Newport
Police Department reported.Loretta Lewis, Rankin Hill Road, Newport, was listed in critical
condition Friday afternoon, Jan. 24, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.Lewis
reportedly walking from inside Knowles Market, North St., to check on an exterior gas pump when a
1995 GMC driven by Cecil "Spanky" Keller, 60, Battle Road, Newport, ran into her and knocked her to
the ground at 4 p.m.For
