NEWPORT-The Cocke County Fire Department may soon be able to
better serve county residents during periods of bad weather.Members of the Cocke County Legislative
Body on Monday approved spending $60,000 from the capital outlay funds to purchase a Dodge 5500
four-wheel drive truck for the CCFD.Reportedly, the department already has a pump to equip the
truck. "We need it bad," said Fire Chief William Smallwood. "It will help in our response time.
We're wearing out our big trucks on these little roads. Within six months, it will be in each of
