NEWPORT—Newport Medical Center and Newport Convalescent
Center will soon become part of Community Health Systems.
Community Health Systems, Inc. and Health Management Associates,
Inc. announced Wednesday, Jan. 8, that HMA stockholders have voted to adopt the
previously announced merger agreement under which CHS has agreed to acquire
HMA stockholders approved the transaction with approximately
99 percent of the votes cast at a special meeting in favor of adoption of the
