NEWPORT-The Finance Committee of the Cocke County Legislative Body Monday approved the sale of two properties which have delinquent property taxes.Jeff Greene, who serves as Cocke County's delinquent tax attorney, advised committee members that Roger Smith had submitted an offer of $4,500 for property at 643 Centerview St. Greene said the property failed to sell during the 2011 delinquent property tax sale, and added the bid would more than cover the back taxes owed.Following a motion by Norman Smith and second from Clayton "Skip" Ellison, members approved the sale. For more details, please see the Tuesday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
