BYBEE—Cold weather can have a great effect on the local agricultural industry.  John R. Chambers, D.V.M., practices at Blue Ridge Veterinary Services located in Bybee.  He works with many large animals and offered some comments about how livestock manages during the winter. Most importantly, he says, “Large animals still require water.  Make sure a source of water remains available.”  When outside temperatures drop to one digit even the largest of farm animals can suffer, according to Chambers.  Many farmers continue to feed their animals grain, but Chambers insists that quality hay offers more benefits. For more details, please see the Thursday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
