Magistrate Ballew granted extension to respond for charges

Cocke County Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew has been granted an extension until Jan. 6, 2014, to file a response to formal charges brought against her before the Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct.Formal charges were filed against Ballew on Oct. 23, after she had ruled earlier in the year that a Cocke County child could not be named "Messiah."For more details, please see the Tuesday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
