DEL RIO—Del Rio community residents who died last year were remembered by members of the Del Rio Culture & Preservation Society’s tree-lighting ceremony on Tuesday evening.

A small number of the organization’s members gathered inside the under-construction headquarters on Hwy. 107 to welcome the Christmas season.

The ceremony, led by president Judy Smith, also included poetry reading, music, and stories.

Following an opening devotion by Smith, the group placed special ornaments on the lighted tree in memory of Hartford Markel, Betty Lee Ruble Owen, Gladys Pack Turner, Richard ‘Bo’ Turner, Carol Lugens, Frank Pack, Deliliah Shelton, Bureda Finchum, Don Kelley, Orpha Price, and Clyde and Alice Brooks.
