NEWPORT-The concerns are growing for Cocke County Road Supt. Kenneth Ford in connection with damage being caused to county roads by logging operations. While
numerous residents around the county have voiced frustration over damages caused by logging, Ford said last week that Phillips Road in the southeastern portion of the county has almost become impassible for cars."The road was shot and chipped before I came into office," said Ford. "Now, it's nothing but deep mud. I don't know if a small car could get through. It poses a danger to people traveling through there."For more details, please see the Tuesday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
