Shoppers fill local stores Thursday and Friday

 NEWPORT-Thousands of shoppers swarmed local businesses Thursday and Friday, armed with circulars advertising special prices on everything from toys to electronics to clothing to Christmas decorations.

The traditional Black Friday shopping day crept backwards to Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday as retailers vied for business.

Shoppers from across America converged on local stores looking for good buys. At Walgreen's on Friday afternoon, three generations studied their advertising circulars before hitting the aisles.
