Cocke County native John Lewis Smith reached the
half-century mark as a member of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee, and Newport
Lodge No. 234.
In recognition of this unique achievement Past Master Jimmy
Clark recently presented to Smith a certificate from the Grand Master Roy C.
Etherton, of Dayton.
On Oct. 19, 1964 Lewis became a Master Mason and has
faithfully served the “Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted
Masons in Newport Lodge No. 234.”
