NEWPORT—The Cocke County ElderWatch Program is seeking donations for their second annual gift bag distribution project.

Donations of lotion, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, and similar items are sought for a goal of 50 gift bags to be distributed to local senior citizens.

“Many of our seniors do not have funds to purchase these necessities,” said Carlene Robinson, one of the project’s organizers. “The ElderWatch Program is going to make sure these needs are met this holiday season. We would appreciate any donations from local businesses or individuals.”

Volunteers are also needed to help with the assembly and distribution of the bags on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at Newport Utilities.

For more information, call Robinson at 423-623-7296—extension 4 or Debbie Wylie at 423-623-6540.
