GATLINBURGOne comeback wasn't enough for the Cocke County Lady Red, so they did it twice in one night.

That's how the Lady Red improved to 3-1 in a 57-56 overtime decision at Gatlinburg-Pittman on Thursday evening in non-district play.

Cocke County twice, in the final minutes of regulation and the overtime period, rallied from a four-point deficit to win Thursday night's game. Sophomore Taylor Thornton sank a free-throw with 0.5 seconds to play in overtime to give the Lady Red the one-point victory.

Thornton, pressed into action with the absence of Kaitlyn Martin (school function) made the most of her opportunity by scoring six of her 10 points in overtime, including the game-winning free-toss after securing a defensive rebound in the final seconds.

"(Coach) said I needed to step up tonight," Thornton said. "I was really nervous, especially because I've been getting in foul trouble and without Kaitlyn here, but I'm glad I stepped up tonight to help the team win."

Sinking the game-winning free-throw, which came after Thornton missed the first of the double bonus opportunity came as she battled off nerves and focused in on making the shot.

"I was so nervous, but I actually try to sing a song when I go to the line," Thornton said. "When that first shot didn't go in, I looked at Allison (Ball) and she was like, 'Arch, arch', so I arched the ball and it went in."
