NEWPORT-An Asheville police officer with
ties to Parrottsville family died in a wreck in Asheville, N.C., on Tuesday, Oct. 29, according to
relatives and police reports.
Michael Ledbetter of Parrottsville is the
father-in-low of the officer whose patrol car he was driving plummeted off of the Jeff Bowen
Bridge over the French Broad River, and onto the ground.
Upon receiving the
tragic news, Ledbetter rushed to see his daughter Genevieve Bingaman in N.C. She was married to
Asheville Police Department officer Robert Austin Bingaman, 37, who died, according to Ledbetter.
