DEL RIO—The 28th annual Del Rio Days opens Saturday, Oct. 26, for a two-day event featuring music, crafts, food, helicopter rides, and other entertainment. The festival will be held at Jones Nature Center, Hwy. 107, across from Del Rio Elementary School.

Today's events include a car show from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the popular band contest starting at 1 p.m.

Finalists in this year’s band contest are The Smith Family, Tennessee Borderline, Four Leaf Peat, and The Ransom Notes.

Sunday’s celebration begins at 12:30 p.m. with gospel singing.

Del Rio Elementary School will also hold Bling for Books, a jewelry sale, with proceeds going to purchase new books for the school library.

Sponsored by the Del Rio Community Association, with support from the Del Rio Preservation Society, the Brushy Mountain Bear Hunters, and East Tennessee Foundation, Del Rio Days is a benefit for the Del Rio Volunteer Fire Department.
