NEWPORT—While Cocke County High School students aren't required to wear school uniforms, the over 1,200 members of the school’s population now have the means to dress alike, if they choose.

The project stemmed from the desire of CCHS Student Council President Meredith Bell to build school pride and self-esteem.

Her dream included hundreds of students wearing matching shirts to ballgames with a logo proclaiming "Go Fighting Cocks" on the front. Furthermore, Bell wanted each student to have such a shirt free of charge.
