NEWPORT-In a span of only two days, Cocke County brought in $147,672 in delinquent property taxes, including proceeds from a full day of the auctioning of properties. It was held at the Courthouse on Thursday, Oct. 24.Jeff
Greene, the delinquent tax attorney for the City of Newport and Cocke County, auctioned off about 150 properties in a Circuit Court courtroom reserved for the day. It was standing room only for some people seeking bargains when the auction began around 9:30 a.m. Greene said the crowd thinned out after lunch, after many had purchased properties.The
first property bid on was on Clearwood Road, which Andrew Minfor Applegate allegedly owed $384.19 in delinquent property taxes.For
