COSBY—The Cosby Eagles football team is looking to finish the season on a high note as they return home for their final two games.
The Eagles host King’s Academy this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Virgil Ball Stadium (RADIO: WLIK-1270 AM, Tape Delay).
The Lions are now led by former Powell head coach Matt Lowe, who led the Tigers to a state title appearance in 2011.
King’s Academy (4-4), while not having a very deep roster, has many different players that pose challenges for the Eagles (1-7, 1-4) defense.
Running back Jason Maduafokwa is a physical back that can run well between the tackles and quarterback Adam Deatherage is a very experienced leader of the Lions offense.
“They’re a dangerous ball team. They’ve got athletes all over the field,” Cosby head coach Kevin Hall said. “They’re not very deep. I think they’ve got 25-26 kids, but they’ve got skill players all over the field that can play. This is going to be a test for us this week. They’re a good football team.
“They’re going to spread it out, and they’re a good mix between run and pass. A lot of teams we’ve played this year, they’ll spread it out and run it. But they’re going to spread it out and give you a good mix of run and pass.”
