NEWPORT-An alleged drunken man, who fired a shotgun at a
neighbor, kept officers at bay during a stand-off before the Tactical Response
Team overpowered him and arrested him around 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, the
Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported. No one was injured.
Wesley Lee Hembree, 22, of 572 Paw Paw Way, in Newport, is
charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Officers were called to the area of Brightstar Way for shots
fired, on Sunday night, Sgt. Chris Gregg reported.
