He said most of the 29 employees at the Newport plant are from this area.

NEWPORT-Jeff Prickett, director of operations in Tennessee for the SI Group, a large chemical manufacturer in Newport, addressed the Newport Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, Oct. 8.Prickett, a graduate in chemical engineering at the University of Tennessee, said the SI Group has a strong "commitment to standards", winning honors as the Volunteer STAR VPP site for safety and health excellence.In
September, SI Group announced that its manufacturing plant in Newport was awarded the Volunteer STAR Award by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA). The company says its site earned this top safety award as a result of its outstanding safety record and ongoing commitment to safety and health issues."To say that we are pleased with this designation is an understatement," said Prickett.
