NEWPORT-After hearing many concerns about logging trucks
tearing up roads in Cocke County, the Cocke County Highway Commission may soon
consider requiring permits or contracts to use county roads.
Cocke County Attorney Carter Moore provided an update on the
situation to members of the Highway Commission during Tuesday's regular
"I don't have a detailed plan of action," said
Moore. "But I do have some information and I'll let you know what I've
found out so far."
Moore said he had met with resident Jamie Williams, who
approached the Cocke County Legislative Body in August expressing concerns
about logging operations in the county that are damaging roads, in particular
Yellow Springs Road.
