As colder weather approaches, Jefferson-Cocke County Utility District (JCCUD) is winding down the most ambitious gasline expansion program in its recent history to provide more residents with access to natural gas.

The major Cocke County project is the completion of gas pipeline to serve the Caney Hollow area and along Highway 73. This 3.5-mile project is part of the larger 13-miles of gasline placed in the two counties.

JCCUD operations engineer Danny Barding reported to the board of commissioners most recently the work is nearly complete, pending one underground boring at a creek near Caney Hollow road and Edwina Highway.
