NEWPORT—Fletcher Ervin, Newport
attorney, received a Quilt of Valor during a brief ceremony in his downtown Newport office
Jan Pittenger, a member of the Smoky
Mountain Chapter of Quilts of Valor in Sevierville, made the presentation.
The hand-stitched creation honored Ervin for his military service in Vietnam.
Rising to the rank of captain during that time, Ervin received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct medal,
National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign medals.
Jim Pittenger and Vern Zimmerman pinned Ervin with the Bronze Star.
