Two arrested after drug sale went wrong

NEWPORT-A woman whose drug sale reportedly went wrong was arrested and charged with filing a false report after she allegedly made up a story about three strangers leaving her on the ground and running over her foot, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.Pauline Lundy, 56, of 490 Cedar St., in Newport, as well as her daughter, Stephanie Hawkins, 29, of 128 Filbert St., in Newport, were arrested Wednesday, Oct. 2, and charged with filing a false report, according to reports by Deputy Sheriffs Heath Willis, Jody Ball, and Johnathan Ball, Lt. Robert Thornton, and Deputy Sheriff Joey Owings.Officers were initially called to Lundy's residence on Cedar Street on a report of a female struck by a motor vehicle, the report stated.For more details, please see the Thursday edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
