DANDRIDGE—Ben Strand, Jr., who has served as General Sessions, Juvenile, and Probate Judge for Jefferson County since 1998 has announced he will not seek re-election in August 2014.

Strand was also selected by former Gov. Phil Bredesen to serve on the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the State of Tennessee from 2009-2013.

Judge Strand, who has lectured on various topics concerning the legal profession to several groups, was selected by his peers to serve as President of the Tennessee General Sessions Judges Conference and also in the House of Delegates of the Tennessee Bar Association.
