NEWPORT-The Town of Parrottsville will be sponsoring the sixth annual Veterans Picnic on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Parrottsville park at 6 p.m.

All veterans and their guests are invited to come and enjoy the food, entertainment, and recognition.

Retired U.S. Army Col. Charles Lewis Moore is the guest speaker. He was born in Grassy Fork and raised in the Waterville area.

Town officials ask that people bring their own lawn chairs, and let them know if they plan to attend by calling (423) 623-9380, and leaving a message.

Parrottsville Mayor Mary Keller said, "This is our way of showing our appreciation to all our men and women in uniform who have, and still are, serving our country to keep out home front safe."
