A host of firemen, policemen, deputies, and other emergency responders saluted as the
body of Elmer Clayton Ball was lifted atop a Cosby Volunteer Fire Department engine for
transport to Webb’s Creek Cemetery for burial on Thursday. Ball, a Cosby VFD volunteer,
died Monday while working to assist someone involved in an earlier accident on I-40.
