NEWPORT-A Cosby Volunteer Fire Department firefighter and the driver of a Mack truck that hit a rollback parked on the shoulder of Interstate 40 died in a violent, two-vehicle crash Monday morning, Sept. 16, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.

Clayton Ball, 33, was a firefighter with the CVFD 13 years, said CVFD Fire Chief Chris Gregg.

The driver of the 2000 Mack truck, Ricky Lee McCurry, 50, was from Shelby, N.C., and not wearing a seat belt, THP Trooper Tyler Hall reported. He died in the wreck, as well.
