NEWPORT-Arson is being blamed for a fire that burned one wall in a residence built in 1878 at 1141 Gunter Corner Road on Friday, Sept. 13, said Cocke County Fire Department Chief William Smallwood.

Kaleb Wright, of Sevierville, is the owner of the Long Creek area building he is reportedly dismantling to retrieve logs used in its construction, Chief Smallwood stated.
