COSBY—After being close in a number of recent matches, the Cosby Lady Eagles volleyball squad finally got the monkey off their back on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Eagles started slow, but were able to knock off District 2-A rival Hancock County High School 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-19) to notch their initial league win of the season.
“I felt like the girls needed this, because they’ve been so tense, because they’ve been so close,” first-year Cosby coach Chuck Wallen said. “It’s like they beat themselves, so I told them that they just needed to go relax and have fun.
“I thought we played smarter and things were clicking as far as performance,” Wallen said. “We can finally feel good about ourselves and the girls seemed excited about (the win tonight).”
