American Veterans Commander Richard Holt said recently of the nonprofit
organization he has headed up for four months, "We just want people to
know we're here, and we'll help them."
Commander Holt said,
"It's a confusing world for veterans when they return to civilian
life" after serving in the military. He added, "Most civilians can't
even start to understand" the struggles such veterans face.
"We help veterans
transition to civilian life with services that meet their physical, emotional,
and financial needs," he stated.
The DAV, "which
has been around 90 years", gets no taxpayer funds, not from the federal,
state, or local governments, said Commander Holt.
