NEWPORT-Elizabeth Blazer, 24, of Blue Ridge Way, in Newport, said she was assaulted while holding her 11-month-old baby by one of two people who came to her residence on Sunday, Sept. 1, the Newport Police Department reported.

Blazer said that at about 8 a.m., a female acquaintance knocked on the door of her residence, Patrolman Travis Gorrell of the Newport Police Department reported.

Blazer said when she opened the door, a man identified as a former acquaintance allegedly forced his way inside her residence, shoved her onto her couch, choked her, and took her cell phone while screaming at her "irately", the report stated.
