NEWPORT—The Cocke County Lady Red soccer team bounced back from a tough loss on Monday to defeat David Crockett, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Larry Williams Stadium.
The Lady Red (1-1), which fell to District 2-AAA rival Morristown West by a 9-0 score in their season opener on Monday, grabbed a pair of first half goals and added one more in the second half.
Taylor Smith collected both first half goals for Cocke County. The first came in the 23rd minute, and she followed that up with another just a minute later.
Crockett’s lone goal came in the 59th minute to chip the lead to 2-1.
Lady Red senior Meredith Bell stretched the lead back out though for the Lady Red, finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute.
