NEWPORT—In their final outing before the 2013 season kicks off, the Cocke County High School Fighting Cocks forged a 7-7 tie with Morristown West in the annual IMAC Jamboree at Burke Toney Stadium on the campus of Morristown East High School.
While the scoreboard read that the two teams tied in their one 12-minute quarter of play, Cocke County first-year coach Caleb Slover was pleased with what his team showed on the field just seven days before this Friday night’s opener at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School.
“I think our kids are starting to realize we can play with people,” Slover said. “We’re getting better, we’re not the same Cocke County team, we’re better now and it’s exciting.”
