NEWPORT-A high-speed chase at speeds up to 110 m.p.h. began near Clayton Homes on West Highway 25/70, and ended in a violent wreck in Jefferson County in a median off Interstate 40, on Sunday, Aug. 18, the Newport Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.The
driver, Anita Lynn Miller, 51, of Newport, was injured and flown by helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, the THP stated.Officers were dispatched to the area of 318 Woodstone Drive on a report of a subject leaving a residence in a white BMW sedan, "possibly over-medicated," according to Patrolman Joshua Veridal of the NPD.For
