NEWPORT-A woman who did not see a train coming was hit by that train near Fugate Road and injured, on Tuesday, July 30, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.

Bernice Miller, 85, of Woodyard Road, in Del Rio, said she was headed north on Woodyard Road and stopped at the stop sign, inched her 1999 Ford forward, and did not see a train on the tracks, resulting in a collision at about 9:05 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Randy Hartsell reported.

The train had two working engines and 58 railroad cars, according to Hartsell's report.

Miller was transported by EMS Ambulance to Newport Medical Center with a "non-incapacitating" injury, the report stated.

There was another accident that occurred on the same day, on the Cosby Cut-Off Road, at about 4:50 p.m., the Newport Police Department reported.
