NEWPORT-Norma Shults said a vehicle struck her teenage
daughter at the Murphy gas station on Cosby Highway, then fled the scene, on
Saturday, July 27, the Newport Police Department reported on Monday, July 29.
Shults said a maroon PT Cruiser started backing up and
struck her daughter who was walking from the gas pumps to the cashier to pay
for fuel, at 7:35 p.m.
The girl allegedly yelled at the driver to stop, but he
kept backing up and hit her.
There was no mention of injury in the report taken by
Patrolman Derek Wright.
