NEWPORT-Norma Shults said a vehicle struck her teenage daughter at the Murphy gas station on Cosby Highway, then fled the scene, on Saturday, July 27, the Newport Police Department reported on Monday, July 29.

Shults said a maroon PT Cruiser started backing up and struck her daughter who was walking from the gas pumps to the cashier to pay for fuel, at 7:35 p.m.

The girl allegedly yelled at the driver to stop, but he kept backing up and hit her.

There was no mention of injury in the report taken by Patrolman Derek Wright.
