HARTFORD-Arson is suspected in the fire that largely destroyed a single-level residence owned by Johnny and Laura Coggins, on Mill Creek Road, in Hartford, on Monday, July 29, the Cocke County Fire Department reported.

The two-bedroom, 1,200 square foot residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire, which was noticed by someone driving by the residence who then called it in, according to Capt. Skip Ellison of the CCFD. Sgt. Tony Whitten of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department notified Laura Coggins that her residence was on fire, and she hurried home.

The call for the fire came into the CCFD at 1:36 p.m., and two trucks with five firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:55 p.m., according to a report at the fire department.
