NEWPORT-There's a new benevolence organization in Cocke
County called "Pay It Forward" that is helping a variety of people
struggling to get by.
One of their current projects is collecting school
supplies for needy children before school starts in August.
Melinda Mitchell is the volunteer project leader for the
school supplies drive.
She said that all the donations of school supplies, such
as paper, pens, markers, glue, etc. will be donated to needy kids in the
Newport and Cocke County school systems, covering all grades, from years
kindergarten to 12th grade.
Drop-off donation sites include the East Tennessee Coffee
Company on East Broadway, Aaron's Rentals on the Cosby Highway, the Newport
Cinema 4 theater, several churches, and the county mayor's office in the
