NEWPORT-The Tennessee Army National Guard recently
appointed Sgt. Daniel Conard of Newport as the Recruiting and Retention NCO
(RRNCO) for Cocke County.
Sgt. Conard will head up recruiting efforts for new
Guardsmen for K Troop, which is based in Newport, plus complete retention
efforts for enlistees.
The 3/278th ACR (Armored Cavalry Regiment) mission is to
protect U.S. citizens from all enemies, both foreign and domestic, and to
provide aid during all forms of natural disasters. National Guardsmen also
perform drug eradication missions, riot control, border patrol, and special
K Troop of the 3/278th ACR "paints a picture"
based upon information it collects from the battlefield through reconnaissance,
for higher headquarters.
Sgt. Conard said the best benefit of joining the
Tennessee Army National Guard versus other military branches is that one
doesn't have to leave home all at once. "The National guard allows people
to stay at home while getting full military benefits," he said.
