Cruiser for Parrottsville denied again

NEWPORT-For a second time, members of the Cocke County Legislative Body haved voted to deny providing a surplus police cruiser to the Town of Parrottsville.

After much discussion during Monday's regular monthly meeting, members voted 7-4 against a resolution providing the town with the car. A similar vote was recorded last month when the issue first arose.

Finance Committee Chairman Phil Killion, who was unable to attend Monday's meeting, had requested the matter be put back on the CLB's agenda during last week's Finance Committee meeting.

Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes explained the surplus cruiser being considered is a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria with more than 160,000 miles.
