NEWPORT-A man shot a cat belonging to an acquaintance,
then shot his high velocity pellet rifle at three adults, including the cat's
owner, on Sunday, June 16, at about 10:15 p.m., the Cocke County Sheriff's
Todd R. Olden, 27, of 785 Musterfield Road, in Newport,
was arrested and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, according
to a report by deputy sheriffs and Lt. Richard Caldwell.
When officers arrived on the scene at 553 Battle Road,
following a shooting call, they allegedly talked to Virgil James, the cat's
owner; Jessica Shelton, and Stephanie Frazier. They said they had been outside
talking about how James's cat had been shot, the report stated.
